POP or IMAP: |
POP is suitable if you are downloading all mail to one device. IMAP is suitable if you want to sync your messages on more than one device, mail is stored on our server and only removed when you remove from your device. If you choose POP we recommend that you select the option to keep a copy of say 14 days messages on our server. This will maintain a recent backup should your computer fail plus recent messages will be available to view on other devices, pads, phones. |
Security: |
You can choose between SSL and Non-SSL. Some email applications and online services will not work under Non-SSL. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is used to prevent third-parties from potentially viewing your email messages. |
Options in Webmail: |
From the settings tab in the WebMail you can. (1) Change your password. (2) Set an auto-reply message such as "I'm on holiday till the end of the month". (3) Forward your mail to another address. Contact us for more advanced forwarding rules. |
Update 31.7.2017 |
We have turned on smtp authentication so enter your email address and password for the outgoing server, smtp. Previously our instructions were "The outgoing server does not require authentication so untick any box that says Requires Authentication or Requires sign in. If there are username and password boxes leave them blank". Our system still records your IP when you pop/imap and allows smtp without a username and password for most mail software. We have turned on smtp authentication as we have found some mail apps fail to complete a new set up if it can not authenticate the smtp. |
Warning! |
When changing from another mail provider to Go2 you can, if using POP simply change the the settings in an existing mail account BUT if you are using IMAP which syncs with your current provider you can NOT just change the existing settings otherwise you may lose all your mail. If using IMAP you must create a new account on your computer/device. |
